How to Take Emergency Contraceptive Pills

Timing:

• Levonorgestrel (Plan B One-Step): It is most effective when taken as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse, ideally within 72 hours (3 days), but it may be effective for up to 5 days.
• Ulipristal Acetate (Ella): Can be taken up to 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected intercourse.

Dosage:

• Levonorgestrel: Typically taken as a single dose of 1.5 mg.
• Ulipristal Acetate: Usually taken as a single dose of 30 mg.
